plays a critical role in the energy transition.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:25\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWe're seeing a growth in population,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:27\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ewe're seeing an increase in prosperity,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:30\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand with that, energy demand is growing,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:32\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand so we need to find ways to bring lower carbon fuels\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:35\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eto the energy markets.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:37\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd we need to also be able to have a balanced transition\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:41\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ethrough to net zero emissions.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:43\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESo LNG does a great job in many places.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:45\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFirstly, displacing coal in industry\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:50\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ewhere it can really make a difference\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:51\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ein terms of efficiency and emissions.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:54\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESecondly, LNG and gas can displace coal\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E0:59\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Efor power generation.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:00\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd so when used for power generation,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:02\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eit's around 50% of the emissions of coal.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:05\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBut it doesn't just stop there.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:07\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhat we're seeing with our business,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:09\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eparticularly here in Singapore,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:11\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eis LNG being used in other industry sectors as well.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:14\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd shipping is a great example.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:16\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWe've been using LNG as a bunkering fuel now\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:19\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Efor several years, and that's really taking off.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:22\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIt delivers 23% less emissions\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:25\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ethan very low sulphur fuel oil, for example.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:27\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd we're the number one LNG bunker supplier here in Singapore.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:30\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWe recently completed our 200th bunkering activity,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:34\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand that's on the back of our 100th\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:36\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eonly in October of last year, so really rapid growth.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:40\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESo LNG for the energy transition\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:43\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eis an enabler in the very near term,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:46\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ehelps support reduction and reliance on coal,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:49\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ehelp industries transition as well as power generation.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:52\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBut it's also there to support the build out\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:55\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand growth of renewables, which is critical\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E1:57\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ebecause gas provides great intermittency support\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:01\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Efor power generation when renewables may not be running.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:05\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI've been in LNG for more than 10 years.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:07\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI think this is the most exciting,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:09\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ebut yet most competitive time in our industry.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:12\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHowever, I'm still optimistic about our product.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:16\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDo you share the same optimism?\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:18\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI absolutely has changed significantly.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:26\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd if I think back to when I first started in supply\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:40\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ecoming to the market in the modern era.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:43\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd we reached about 200 million tonnes in 2010.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:47\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd if you think of where the LNG industry came from,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:49\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Etoday we're celebrating our 65th year in the industry\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:54\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand that has come from, you know,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E2:57\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ethe first delivery into Canvey Island in the UK,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:00\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eso over that time period to get to today.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:03\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd then from here in 2024,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:07\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ewe're now at 400 million tonnes.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:09\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESo it's doubled again in a much shorter period of time.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:12\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd then the same volume coming online\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:14\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ethat's under construction,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:15\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ewe should reach 600 million tonnes in and around 2030.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:19\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESo that's a very significant growth for this industry\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:22\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand that's what makes this exciting.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:25\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd for Shell, as our part in this industry,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:28\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ewe're seeking to grow.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:29\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWe're growing by 20 to 30% from our working a lot on the acquisition\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E3:48\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eof Pavilion Energy within our today\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E5:47\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eto around 650 million tonnes by 2040,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E5:51\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Ea very significant part of that comes from Asia.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E5:55\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAnd in particular, if we look across India, China,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E5:58\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eand Southeast Asia,\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E6:00\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003Eit accounts for around 78% of that
