Beyond Oil and Gas

As we move towards a low-carbon future, there are many ways to significantly reduce emissions across your fleet today.

From adopting alternative fuels through to using data to ensure that your vehicles are driven in the most efficient and economic ways, we can help you take control of your fleet emissions.

Fleets are harnessing the benefits of cleaner

Fleets are harnessing the benefits of cleaner fuels

In a recent survey, 58% of Fleet Managers predict the fuel types of their fleets will change in the next five years.1  With sustainability high on so many fleet agendas, more and more companies are focusing on how fuel can help. Two key choices are to:

  • Source smarter traditional fuels that can deliver benefits such as better fuel economy, cutting costs and CO2 emissions at the same time
  • Switch to cleaner-burning natural gas fuels and biofuels that offer a practical and cost-efficient solution for reducing emissions

Alternative Fuels

Cleaner-burning natural gas is already being widely used as an lower fuel cost alternative to conventional diesel, and biofuels can be blended with existing fuels such as gasoline and diesel for a cost-effective solution for reducing emissions.

  • Alternative Fuels

    Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

LNG is a practical, economical and emission-reducing option for large trucks and heavy tansport ● Shell has been a pioneer for more than 50 years ● We have been developing a safe, reliable and growing supply chain – including our retail network ● We are working with OEMs to further develop LNG as a fuel for heavy-duty trucks
  • Gas-to-liquids (GTL)

    Gas-to-liquids (GTL)

GTL fuel is a cleaner, safer alternative to diesel that works without the need for engine modifications ● Shell began developing GTL technology in the 1970s ● We opened the first commercial GTL plant in Bintulu, Malaysia in 1993 and the world’s largest plant, Pearl GTL, in 2011 ● It is already being used in public buses, city utility vehicles and heavy-duty trucks in Europe ● Contains none of the impurities – Sulphur, aromatics and nitrogen – that are in crude oil
  • Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

    Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

CNG (methane stored at high pressure) is a fuel which can be used in place of gasoline and dielsel fuel CNG is used in traditional gasoline and internal combustion engine vehicles that have been modified or in vehicles which were manufactured for CNG use, either alone (‘dedicated’), with a segregated gasoline system to extend range (duel fuel) or in conjunction with another fuel such as diesel (bi-fuel).
  • Biofuels

    Biofuels

A valuable part of the energy mix for fleets, biofuels can be blended into petrol and diesel ● A cost-effective way to make today’s vehicles operate with fewer emissions ● Currently 3% of the global demand for road transport fuel

Innovative Fuels & lubricants

Our latest generation of world-class fuels, formulated with DYNAFLEX Technology, and our low-viscosity lubricants drive engine efficiency which delivers less consumption, lower costs and reduced emissions.3

  • Shell FuelSave Diesel

    Shell FuelSave Diesel

    ● With both clean-up and keep-clean effect, Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to help provide better fuel economy ● Helping to reduce your fuel and operating costs by cleaning injector deposits in the engine and preventing further build-up ● This in turn can help lower CO2 emissions and black smoke ● Heavy-duty vehicles can benefit from more load-pulling power when needed
  • Shell V-Power

    Shell V-Power

Our latest generation of premium fuel, Shell V-Power – now with boosted DYNAFLEX Technology ● Our most effective fuel, it helps to improve engine cleanliness by removing deposits that have already formed ● Now with 3x the molecules that help to reduce engine dirt and friction ● Boosted DYNAFLEX Technology delivers our best cleaning performance
  • Shell Rimula R6 LME

    Shell Rimula R6 LME

Fully synthetic engine oils for heavy-duty diesel trucks and bus fleets, which can help save up to 2% on fuel consumption.
  • Shell Helix

    Shell Helix

Shell Helix fully synthetic oils are manufactured from 100% synthetic base stock and high-quality additives to provide superior cleansing and protection for today’s hard-working engines. 2 Based on a field trial carried out over a 100,000 km oil-drain interval and compared with a typical 10W-40 oil.
  • AdBlue

    AdBlue

    ● AdBlue® reduces NOx exhaust emissions by converting them into nitrogen gas and water vapour ● It indirectly increases fuel economy as the engine is allowed to run at more optimised conditions ● Even when partially frozen, the concentration is maintained, allowing accurate dosing ● On-board diagnostics detect when AdBlue® has run out and reduce engine power by up to 40% to return emissions to legal limits 2DYNAFLEX Technology is our name for our latest generation of advanced formulations for gasoline and diesel fuels. 3Compared to Shell’s regular FuelSave fuels. Helps to restore power by cleaning key fuel system components such as intake valves and/or fuel injectors from the build up of performance robbing deposits. No guarantees provided. Actual effects and benefits may vary according to vehicle type, vehicle age, vehicle condition and driving style.

How to get employees to accept new technology

Integrating new technology – telematics systems that monitor vehicle and driver performance, for example – into a business can sometimes be problematic, as company employees can sometimes be resistant to change. However, getting staff on board doesn’t have to be a trial.
