Nature Nurtures Programme
The Nature Nurtures Programme seeks to cultivate an appreciation for nature and promotes a sense of confidence and well being in the teens.

Developing an appreciation for nature in students
Shell employees are encouraged to participate in community efforts and long-term volunteer activities. More than just contributing one’s time to a worthy cause, these projects often motivate people to reassess how they approach their work.
Whether they are cleaning up beaches or educating students about environmental conservation – Shell employees and retirees are eager to give back to their respective communities through company–sponsored activities, just like the Nature Nurtures Programme (NNP) here in Singapore.
Started in January 2007, the Nature Nurtures Programme reaches out to teens from difficult backgrounds and builds up their skills and self-confidence through fun, challenging activities in Singapore’s parks and nature reserves. The NN Programme seeks to cultivate an appreciation for nature and promotes a sense of confidence and well being in the teens.

Students from Shuqun Secondary School, Chestnut Secondary School and Northlight School have benefitted from the NN Programme. Held mostly at Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, activities including coastal clean ups and mangrove salvaging give the teenagers an opportunity to learn life skills, the value of teamwork and the satisfaction of community involvement in an environment with a freedom that cannot be found in the rigidity of schools.

Shell has been supporting various environmental and educational programmes through the years. Volunteers benefitted from seeing students becoming more mature, responsible self-confident and not afraid to take up leadership roles.
