Terminal Operators
Job Description:
To ensure safe and efficient operation of bulk fuel and chemical products at the terminal:
- Operate at the correct standards in a team that provides receipt, storage and loading operations, including ship/shore operations, and takes care of maintenance and supply of product under existing agreements;
- Ensure customers always receive the right product in a safe manner;
- Comply and enforce HSSE standards and procedures including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements;
- Take corrective action when drivers, contractors, crews or personnel do not obey rules;
- Ensure oil products are in line with specifications, apply depot handling and product transfer procedures and apply product control and measurement;
- Execute tank dipping and sampling, water draining and tank cleaning;
- Permit work system/confined space entry, control of electrostatic hazards and working at heights;
- Conduct fuel additive handling and dosing, product testing and quality control;
- Execute fire fighting, emergency response/oil spill management;
- Ensure availability of equipment to target requirement levels;
- Act as trouble-shooter when systems fail;
- Be the terminal’s representative for the discharge;
- Verify that during discharge there are no spills that could harm the environment and verify that the pumping pressure is not exceeded; and
- Remain in constant communication with the depot/terminal to be able to stop discharge in case of emergency.
Requirements:
- Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent in Engineering;
- Related work Experience in refineries or petrochemical plants especially in equipment troubleshooting and reliability improvements will be advantageous;
- Knowledge of standard desktop applications, business-specific IT systems, and IT Communication tools to execute relevant business processes and to enhance personal productivity and communications;
- Ensure the benefits of technological and organisational change are realised, by aligning and adapting business and organisation practices and processes, maintaining momentum and sustaining focus on the change; and
- Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to achieve shared goals and encourage and support their contributions, and facilitate the team’s effective performance.
The candidate will be required to undergo training in different areas of the Terminal Operations as per the Technician Progression Scheme.
